Bitcoin ETFs See Biggest Inflow in a Month, Price Dips
U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs pulled in $526.6 million (USD) on Monday, their best single day in about a month, almost entirely from BlackRock's IBIT. A day later bitcoin's price slipped to $81,488. For wallet holders, that gap is the real story.
What actually happened
According to CoinDesk, BlackRock's IBIT alone added $665.2 million on Monday, its largest daily haul since 7 October last year. Fidelity's FBTC lost $83.6 million and Grayscale's GBTC gave back $54.9 million. The combined $526.6 million inflow wiped out last week's $228.5 million of withdrawals, yet October funds still sit $90.5 million in the red. Ether ETFs moved the other way, losing $103.3 million for a fourth straight session, with BlackRock's ETHA responsible for $95.4 million of that. By Tuesday bitcoin traded at $81,488, down 0.83% in 24 hours, per CoinDesk.
How we got here
Last week, a selloff in AI data center stocks spread into crypto-linked shares. Galaxy Digital dropped 20% on CoreWeave tenancy worries before StoneX analyst Mark Palmer called the reaction overdone and kept his buy rating. Goldman Sachs then upgraded CoreWeave, and bitcoin miners rebounded more than 5%. Against that backdrop, treasury firm Strive bought 1,223 BTC for about $100 million (USD) at an average $81,488 per coin, lifting its holdings to 36,818 BTC, The Block reported. Custodian AnchorWatch also launched insurance covering up to $370 million per client.
Why this matters for you
For wallet holders, the lesson is simple: record ETF inflows did not stop bitcoin's price from dipping a day later. Flow data and spot price can move independently, so treat headline numbers as one input, not a forecast. For builders and custodians, AnchorWatch's new insurance tier and Strive's continued buying show demand still growing beneath daily price noise. Inside the bonuz ecosystem, this is a reminder to track your own balances rather than react to single-day ETF headlines. Options traders reportedly sought downside protection the same day, a sign some are bracing for more swings.
The bigger question
If record ETF inflows and a falling spot price can happen on the same day, how much should everyday holders trust flow data as a signal? Does $526.6 million into one fund mean rising conviction, routine rebalancing, or one firm's allocation choice? The answer shapes how seriously wallet users should weigh flow headlines against the price on their own screen.
What to watch
Watch whether October's bitcoin ETF flows turn positive after this month's $90.5 million shortfall. Strategy's stock sits near a golden cross, following bitcoin's own cross weeks earlier, though full trading data was not yet available. AnchorWatch's rollout and further purchases by firms like Strive will show whether institutional building keeps pace, regardless of bitcoin's daily price.
