Coinbase, Strategy and Bitcoin Gap Up Together at Monday's Open as Wall Street Rebounds

US futures were pointing higher before Monday's open on October 19, 2026, after the Nasdaq posted its worst weekly drop since June. By 9:22am ET, S&P 500 futures were up roughly 0.5% and Nasdaq 100 futures were up more than 1.2%, while Dow futures slipped about 0.1%, according to Yahoo Finance and Reuters market wraps published that morning.

What stood out in the opening minutes wasn't one single headline trade. It was how many crypto-adjacent names moved together, and in the same direction as bitcoin itself.

In premarket trading, Circle (CRCL) led crypto-linked stocks with a 2.76% gain, according to BIT price data cited by CoinNess. Bitcoin miner and treasury play Bitmine (BMNR) was up 1.99%, Coinbase (COIN) gained 1.75%, Strategy (MSTR) rose 1.71%, Robinhood (HOOD) added 1.46%, and SharpLink Gaming (SBET) climbed 1.06%.

Bitcoin itself traded around $82,500 Monday morning, bouncing off a weekend low near $80,600, after dipping below the $80,000 mark for the first time in a month during last week's selloff, Investopedia reported.

The moves continued once the opening bell rang. Using Yahoo Finance's minute-by-minute data for the 9:30-9:40am ET window: Coinbase opened at $175.58 and traded between $173.70 and $176.26 in its first seven minutes, last printing at $175.32, up about 1.25% versus Friday's close of $173.16. Strategy opened at $139.07, climbed as high as $140.77, and settled near $139.99, up roughly 2.3% on the day. Nvidia opened at $218.01 and eased back to around $215.86 in the first few minutes, still up about 0.8% versus its $214.13 prior close.

CoreWeave (CRWV), the AI cloud infrastructure company whose stock had plunged more than 25% the previous week on financing worries after its corporate bond yields surged, was quoted up 6.6% in premarket trading Monday, per Reuters, as part of a broader rebound across chip and AI infrastructure names including Broadcom and Micron.

The backdrop makes this more than an ordinary green Monday. Earlier this month, the SEC cleared a temporary regulatory pathway for tokenized stock trading, and both NYSE-parent Intercontinental Exchange (via a partnership with Blockchain.com) and OKX, through a joint venture called OKXICE, have filed to launch platforms offering round-the-clock trading of tokenized US shares, including Nvidia, Coinbase and Robinhood themselves. Several DeFi platforms, including 1inch and Hyperliquid-based EQX Labs, already ran tokenized versions of US stocks over the October 17-18 weekend while the traditional market was shut.

None of this is investment advice. But watching crypto stocks, bitcoin and the broader AI trade move in lockstep at 9:30am ET, in a market that is actively building the infrastructure to trade these same names at 3am on a Sunday, is a genuinely interesting moment for anyone watching where markets are headed next.
