Robinhood Chain kept producing new blocks every 101 milliseconds throughout, the outlet reported. Arbitrum blamed congestion in Ethereum's blob market, an explanation that fits the second gap but not the first, per The Defiant's reporting on the Base spike that triggered it.
How we got here
Ethereum added blob space in its Dencun upgrade to give rollups a cheap way to post transaction data for security checks. Base, Robinhood Chain, and other rollups all draw from that same limited lane. When one chain's activity spikes, it can push others out of the queue for minutes. Friday marks one of the first public instances where a named, retail-facing chain saw its own data delayed by someone else's traffic.
