TON blockchain launches on-chain encrypted messaging feature

Binance

On July 3, the TON Foundation revealed the launch of an encrypted messaging service – a feature that was missing from the Open Network — on Telegram. Before the introduction of encryption, the blockchain platform, which is a spinoff of the code generated by the Telegram squad, had been able to post chain messages, however, they were accessible for everyone to view. Back in 2020, the Telegram group abandoned their campaign prior to the network ever becoming active, though, the code was still released to the public which enabled the group worked on the development of TON to carry on.

Building up off of the TON Foundation's development, the implementation of a secure, encrypted messaging system for the users of TON is a mammoth advance. Vital for their exchanges, users now have the ability to personalize the experience with the addition of messages like "for coffee" or "happy birthday." Anatoly Makosov articulated the purpose of the network as being not only to guarantee a higher level of security but also enable personalization in the transactions. Demonstrably, they've been successful in this, allowing customers to subscribe to services, send Toncoin, Jettons or NFTs all while maintaining encrypted communication exclusively visible to the other party, and the platform itself.

If you ever find yourself in an extreme emergency situation and cut off from traditional channels of communication, TON offers a discrete and reliable alternative that allows for anonymous messaging. If you're looking for a secure way to send messages, you should take a look at available wallet applications such as MyTonWallet, OpenMask, TON Wallet and Tonkeeper, which all offer these kinds of services. Plus, the TON Foundation has made a commitment to bolstering development by allocating $25 million to app developers in May, and an independent team has made strides towards this goal with the creation of a Telegram trading bot for the network back in November.
